I’m heading off to the Microsoft MVP Summit in Redmond Washington. Every year, Microsoft invites the cadre of 3000 or so MVP nerds to gather and discuss the new and exciting products they are working on. This year, I’ve decided to go in light of the buzz I’ve been hearing around the new version of Microsoft Office.
.
But before I can rub elbows with the powerfully nerdy, I’ve got to fly there. This has me thinking about a travel tip of mine – for the memory challenged.
.
If you’re going to park your car at the airport for an extended period of time (one week in my case), take a picture of the parking signs around you.
With one click of your camera phone, you’ll never have to struggle to remember your parking spot – It’s right there in your picture gallery (next to the creepy topless beach photos you took while on vacation).
.
Stay tuned for updates from the Microsoft MVP Summit this week.

Don’t forget to take a picture of your vehicle too; in case you forget what that looks like!
Seriously, though, I do the same when I park as hints in case I cannot find my parking space. I also take pictures of vehicles either side of my own (showing spaces between & the respective registration plates) in case I return & find a dented door or scratched paintwork.
BFN,
fp.
I do this all the time. When not possible I use one of the GPS bookmark apps to spot my location.
Something else I find myself doing from time to time: When I’m in the heavier part of the city, I often times have to park a few blocks away from my actual destination. Since we have draconian parking laws, we also have a lot of restricted parking zones. I’m also paranoid.
So, a lot of times I use google streetview to check the location where I park to and see if there are any no parking signs to avoid getting a love letter from a meter maid.
I thought Office 2010 was going to be the last one.
ts-s-s, Mike doesn’t know it was released already
I remember when I was a Microsoft MVP. I really looked forward to those Summits. We had some great times.
And then, it lost its luster when they made you start sharing a hotel room. In the early days, MS actually paid for the flights! Next year, they’ll probably start charging for the food.
But I have some good memories. Mike, Kusleika, and Deb D were always the most fun to hang with. My liver thanks me for resigning.
At our house, a monopoly game can take a week, because we normally only play it on weeknights, and the kids have to go to bed at 7:30pm. So I take a photo of the monopoly board before I carefully slide it under the couch, because invariably a kid will hide from me under there, and screw up my property portfolio.
