Fellow Excel MVP, Ed Ferrero, pointed me to this very cool picture. I call it meat world – a place where a man can live off the fat of the land (literally).

On this blog, Saturday is Bacon recipe day. So no Excel tips and tricks today. Today we learn about bacon.

Today, I used RedBox for the first time. Redbox is a movie vending machine located outside of convenience stores. You put in your email address and credit card, then you can select any number of movies from the selection on the screen. The movie literally pops out of the machine. You return the movie to the machine when you’re done.

It’s pure genius. It’s easy, no hassle, and the selection is decent. Plus, I don’t have to deal with anyone with rings in their nose or green hair. Blockbuster is dead to me my friends.

Anyway, with so much movie watching, I searched for a recipe for Bacon Popcorn. I’ve been using this one with delicious results:

Frozen Peanut Butter Pie with Candied Bacon

October 3rd, 2009

On this blog, Saturday is Bacon recipe day. So no Excel tips and tricks today. Today we learn about bacon.

Daron sent me this recipe for Frozen Peanut Butter Pie with Candied Bacon.  This is from Gourmet.com, so Daron is obviously working at a higher standard than I usually do. The site says this about the recipe:

“Candied bacon might seem like the ultimate example of gilding the lily, but it adds a sweet, smoky edge to this already luscious pie. Elvis would be proud.”

Well…if Elvis would be proud, then what are we waiting for? Here is what you’ll need:

Coffee and Brown Sugar Bacon

This week’s Bacon post is a bit late. I’ve been watching the children while Mrs. Pig is deluged with the new baby. Mrs. Pig gets about 3 hours of sleep a night with the new piglet. I lucked out because she decided to breast-feed. That gives me an obvious excuse not to help in the middle of the night. Although my breasts are quite developed, I still can’t produce life sustaining nutrition. I like to tell her that my breasts have the motion without the potion.

Well, that’s quite enough information. In honor of Mrs. Pig’s sleep deprivation; today’s recipe is Coffee and Brown Sugar Bacon.

The new piglet arrived on Tuesday with much fanfare and drama.  Everyone agrees that she’s beautiful.  And she is, no doubt.  But I know the truth.  She’ll be walking around like she owns the place in no time – giving me orders for juice and whatnot .

Nevertheless, in honor of the new arrival, today’s recipe is Pig in a Blanket.   Here’s what you’ll need:

Bacon and Cheese Johnny-Cakes

August 22nd, 2009

On this blog, Saturday is Bacon recipe day. So no Excel tips and tricks today. Today we learn about bacon.

I’ll be honest. I love Johnny-cakes;  also known as cornbread.

I’d personally like to think the name Johnny-cake came from some hard-drinking pioneer genius named Johnny, who by day, cooked up delicious cakes, and by night, bedded the women folk. Apparently Wikipedia has a much more boring story than that.

Nevertheless, today’s recipe is Bacon Cheese Johnny-Cakes.
