Bacon Carrots

March 7th, 2010

On this blog, Saturday is Bacon recipe day. So no Excel tips and tricks today. Today we learn about bacon.

I've been slacking on the bacon posts lately – mostly because I've been a responsible adult, completing work instead of puttering around on the internet.

Because I'm feeling so responsible, I think I'll post an adult recipe today. How about Vegetables! Yeah…vegetables are all adult-ey.

Scouring the internet, I found this recipe for Sweet Baby Bacon Carrots. Look gross, but hey…I'm an adult now.

Bacon-wrapped Grilled Kielbasa

February 7th, 2010

On this blog, Saturday is Bacon recipe day. So no Excel tips and tricks today. Today we learn about bacon.

Take a look at this shiny recipe for Bacon-wrapped Grilled Kielbasa. I like to sneak these into the movies, and pull them out when the lights go dim. I sit back and watch everyone wonder from where that lovely smell is emanating.

  • 1 lb high-quality Kielbasa
  • 1/2 lb thick-cut bacon
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 3 tbsp mustard
  • Chili powder
  • Fire

Cut the kielbasa into one-to-two-inch chunks.

Simmer in some water for a few minutes.

Remove from the water and wrap each one with half a slice of bacon.

Impale with moistened bamboo skewers and commence grilling.

Combine maple syrup, mustard, and chili powder in a bowl.

Once the bacon is crisp, brush the meat on all sides with the glaze and grill for a few additional minutes.

German Potato Salad

January 24th, 2010

On this blog, Saturday is Bacon recipe day. So no Excel tips and tricks today. Today we learn about bacon.

Today, we'll do a little comfort food. Mrs. Pig is fond of German Potato salad. She's from Buffalo New York where all the Polacks there love perogies, sausage and potato salad.

I've had it a few times and I must say that it's very tasty. I'm pretty sure it's the Bacon that makes it good.

On this blog, Saturday is Bacon recipe day. So no Excel tips and tricks today. Today we learn about bacon.

In the DataPig household, every other Sunday is "special cereal day". This is a day when the kids get to eat any sugary cereal they want. We normally don't let them eat that junk, but every other Sunday, they get to have the breakfast of their dreams (Cocoa Puffs, Lucky Charms, Sugar Smacks, etc…). I offer them "special cereal day" so they'll let me live with them when I'm old.

Anyway, on "special cereal day", I get to have a special breakfast too. I get to have French Toast Bacon Sandwiches.

Here's the basic instructions:

On this blog, Saturday is Bacon recipe day. So no Excel tips and tricks today. Today we learn about bacon.

Today, I used RedBox for the first time. Redbox is a movie vending machine located outside of convenience stores. You put in your email address and credit card, then you can select any number of movies from the selection on the screen. The movie literally pops out of the machine. You return the movie to the machine when you're done.

It's pure genius. It's easy, no hassle, and the selection is decent. Plus, I don't have to deal with anyone with rings in their nose or green hair. Blockbuster is dead to me my friends.

Anyway, with so much movie watching, I searched for a recipe for Bacon Popcorn. I've been using this one with delicious results:
