Meat Candy

On this blog, Saturday is Bacon recipe day. So no Excel tips and tricks today. Today we learn about bacon.

Meat Candy isn't prison slang refering to new inmates.  It's a magical delight more commonly known as: Chocolate Covered Bacon

Here is what you'll need

8 slices of thick cut bacon  (don't be cheap – splurge on the good bacon)

12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 375°F.

Place the bacon on a baking sheet and bake in the oven, until bacon is cooked to your liking (15 minutes for soft bacon, 20 minutes for crispy bacon)

Set bacon aside to cool, while you heat a large saucepan filled with water over high heat until boiling.

Reduce heat to a simmer and set a heat-proof bowl over the simmering water.  Pour the chocoloate into the empty bowl and stir with a fork until smooth and completely melted.

Prepare another clean baking sheet with parchment paper.

Dip the bacon into the melted chocolate turning to coat all sides in chocolate. Transfer to the clean sheet of waiting parchment paper. Repeat with remaining slices of bacon.

Refrigerate until chocolate is hard.

Put your buffet pants on and eat.

Notes: Sweet chocolate with salty pig – what's left to say?

    How about "Operator…Ambulance"

is there a shortcut to go to 'Name Box'?

  3. Preet, while the bacon is in the oven, you'll have plenty of time to go to Chip Pearson's site and copy his VBA code that creates a shortcut to the Name box.

But not enough time to go to K-Mart for a pair of buffet pants.

How about doing an alcoholic bacon cocktail next Saturday? God knows you've combined it with just about everything else under the sun.

John: K-mart has a nice selection of moo-moos. I've got my eye on a purple one.
