On this blog, Saturday is Bacon recipe day. So no Excel tips and tricks today. Today we learn about bacon.
It’s Independence Day! And on Independence Day, watermelon is traditional fare here in the US. I don’t really know why. I’m sure it has something to do with how we spanked the British.
In any case, today we have Bacon-Wrapped Watermelon.
Here is what you’ll need:
8 slices if bacon, cut in half
16 cubes seedless watermelon, about 1 1/2 inches square
6 ounces crab meat (lump)
salt, to taste
Using a small spoon or melon baller, carve out a small indentation in each watermelon cube.
Place a bit of crab in each indentation and salt lightly (don’t skip the salt…it makes a difference).
Wrap with bacon and secure with a toothpick. Place under broiler and cook until bacon is crisp.
Notes: This only makes 16 pieces, so you’ll need to double the recipe if you have a friend coming over.

That sounds terrible. Did you just make it up? Why not go all out and top it with motor oil?
No wonder your blog stats are so low on Saturday.
And I thought your RSS feed was bad…
ONLY 16 pieces? Damn. Around here that would feed exactly 16 people.
John: It is a real recipe.

I have to admit I haven’t tried this one. According to the site, the texture changes and everything works.
JP: Everything is bigger in Texas.
My mom had two variations: bacon-wrapped scallops and bacon-wrapped pineapple. But she once pointed out that even bacon-wrapped turds would be savory.
Now tell me what other blog out there can offer thought-provoking comments such as ‘bacon-wrapped turds’
Why is this blog not outranking DrudgeReport?
How can I highlight the column and row of my current cell? If i am in cell J4 and want to highlight coulum J and row 4, what is the shortcut for it?
